Meet the First Indiana Jewish History Preservation Corps

Four New Interns are part of the Initial Group called the Indiana Jewish History Preservation Corps.

Funded by the Heritage Grant.

The Grant is part of the Indiana Historical. Society’s statewide Heritage Support Grant program. The Lilly Endowment Inc. provides the funding.

“This grant will create a non-sectarian internship program to hire students and Society volunteers to travel to Jewish communities around the State to collect and digitize documents, oral histories, and photographs related to Indiana’s Jewish past.”

Hello! My name is Jenny Torres, and I’m a student at Purdue majoring in Anthropology and History. I love working with the Indiana Jewish Historical Society because I believe in preserving history, and regular people from all over this state have a story that deserves to be told.

Hi, My Name is Emma Maggart; I am currently a graduate student at Purdue University studying history. My research is focused on medical history, and I have a particular interest in archival work. People and their personal stories are my favorite part of my work. I love interacting with the community and recording everyday routines alongside their life-changing moments.
